Robert Mapplethorpe (1946–1989, USA)

Robert Mapplethorpe was one of the great masters of art photography. He produced highly stylised black and white portraits, nudes and still lifes. Over and above the erotic power that made Mapplethorpe’s work famous, the exhibition presents the classic dimension of the artist’s work and his search for aesthetic perfection, through over 200 images that span his career from the early 1970s to his untimely death in 1989.

Julien Mauve | on Tumblr - Hopeless Romantic (2012)

Hopeless Romantic is a real love story. A boy and a girl find each other, and their story unfolds : from their first meeting to the last moments of their love, from hopeless romanticism to the final disillusion. Because when reality overruns the magic of love and the illusion of romantic clichés vanish, men and women find themselves looking at what and who they really are. As reality sets in, there comes the difficult time when we must conciliate our relationship with our expectations.

Julien Mauve | on Tumblr - After lights out (2013)

Night no longer exists. City lights cover up the stars, and cell phone screens lighten even the darkest of alleyways. And soon, imagine a world in which our lights render even the sun gratuitous.

In the darkness of space, light is a beacon of hope. What if darkness in our world once again overtook the night and as an affect, transforming even the most insignificant light into an exception – a mystical phenomenon ? In a world in black and blue, the single incandescence of a bulb could be the greatest promise of an adventure about to start.”
